Pause to bring kind and curious attention to the sensations of the flow of your next three breaths

Wishing you many moments of clear and peaceful awareness and conscious action

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me to share thoughts and feelings about the value of receiving these daily reminders. I am grateful for your kind wishes and for the feedback.

If you have not opened a daily reminder since August 24, please note the following:
Until the end of September, I will be taking a pause from regularly  including quotes and wishes in the daily reminders, but will continue to send out a simple reminder to pause for three mindful breaths accompanied by an image from our natural world. I will be using this pause to reflect on whether to continue sending the daily reminders in October, and if so, to consider what format may be most helpful.
You are, as always, invited to unsubscribe from this list, if you do not feel it would be helpful to continue to receive daily email reminders to pause for 3 mindful breaths..

Pause

Notice how the following 3 breaths feel as they flow into and out of your body

Please note that until the end of September, I will be taking a pause from including quotes, images and wishes in the daily reminders, but will continue to send out a simple reminder to pause for three mindful breaths.

I will be using this pause to reflect on whether to continue sending the daily reminders in October, and if so, to consider what format may be most helpful.

Creating and sending out daily reminders has and continues to support my own mindfulness practice, helping me to remember to not only to regularly pause for 3 mindful breaths, but also to continue to cultivate qualities of kindness, curiosity, compassion, gratitude, generosity, patience and acceptance combined with purposeful committed action, and to remember that we are all individuals who are inter-connected and inter-dependent.

I am very grateful to each of you for being part of this community and hope that the reminders have been helpful to you.

With gratitude, I wish you all  peace, well-being and a smooth transition from summer to fall.

Bring awareness into the present moment by noticing with curiosity the changing sensations in your next three breath cycles

"Curiosity... is an essential quality for human development and learning.
It is a primary aspect of mindfulness.
Curiosity allows us to begin to turn toward the entirety of experience, moving us from avoidance to approach, including that which we don’t like.
I would argue curiosity and kindness are the antidotes to judgment and other harsh evaluations we may direct toward ourselves or others and it is a quality that can be developed".

Pause for 3 Mindful Breaths

“When you find yourself speeding up and stressing out, pause, and take a deep breath.
Take a couple more.
Really feel the air coming into your body, and feel the stress going out.
By fully focusing on each breath, you bring yourself back to the present, and slow yourself down.”

-Leo Babauta
